TOOL LIST

A note from Mike: There are a great many sizes and shapes of carving tools. My suggestion would be to get several tools off the list below. At a bare minimum you will need 1 “V” gouge, 3 to 4 “U” gouges and 1 “Flat” gouge. Personally, I would avoid getting sets. It is more expensive to purchase tools one at a time, but you will use all of the tools you purchase. If you are purchasing new tools, bare in mind that you typically get what you pay for. The tool’s ability to hold an edge is important to your safety as well as your enjoyment. If you have any questions regarding the brand of knife you are considering, please call me and I will be happy to give you my opinion as to the quality of the tool.

Suggested Tools:

“U” gouges

“V” gouge

“Flat” gouge

Other Tools

Mike will have other shape and size tools on hand for you to use or try. Don't hesitate to call or email him with any questions on materials, tools or design.
