SketchUp Participant Information
Robert Lang
Bob believes in mastering the basics as the foundation to learning, and the first day of this class will be devoted to making simple objects and using basic techniques. If you have some experience with SketchUp you won't be bored; you'll learn some new methods and will be practicing efficient methods for modeling. If you don't have any SketchUp experience, or have tried it and given up in frustration, you'll learn to navigate a new world and make stuff that's remarkably like pieces of wood.
If you're rusty or completely inexperienced with basic computer skills, get comfortable with your machine and with using a mouse before coming to class, so you can make the most of class time.
We will begin to work on furniture projects as soon as possible, and the small size of this class will ensure plenty of interaction between students and the instructor. Come to class with a project in mind and we'll work out the details together. A completed model is a gold mine of information, and we will wind up the class covering how to make exploded views of details, generate accurate cut lists and print useful drawings to take to the shop. Students are encouraged to have a project idea to work on in class.
A fully catered lunch is served every day and drinks and snacks are provided all day. Please let us know in advance of any special dietary needs.
ACCOMMODATIONS: It is a good idea to make your lodging reservations well in advance.
